November always feels like a month caught between two seasons. Autumn is still hanging on in the last leaves, darker colours and the food we are not quite ready to say goodbye to, while winter is already making itself known with colder mornings, earlier evenings and the first thoughts of Christmas creeping in.

This month’s Handpicked Yorkshire eMagazine sits happily somewhere in the middle.

Explore the November issue of Handpicked Yorkshire, featuring cosy homes, seasonal style, wellbeing, local stories, business advice and comforting autumn food.

There is plenty of inspiration for making home feel warmer and more welcoming, from cosy interiors and the great Yorkshire boot room to clever ways to make smaller spaces work harder and useful things to do with fallen leaves.

As always, we are also shining a light on the people, businesses and organisations that make Yorkshire such an interesting place to live, work and explore.

IN THIS MONTH’S ISSUE

One of this month’s loveliest stories comes from Martin House Children’s Hospice, where Louis Theroux finds himself becoming the interviewee when seven-year-old Hooriya arrives with questions of her own.

At home, we are embracing the season with cosy interiors, winter colour for the garden, practical advice for making rooms feel more spacious and a closer look at the hardworking Yorkshire boot room.

Elsewhere, we meet local businesses and experts, with useful advice covering everything from flooring and family law to websites, social media and building a business that can keep running without you constantly at the helm.

Health and wellbeing also takes a seasonal turn, with features on menopause and hair, the benefits of keeping up a daily walk through winter, simple ways to tackle dry winter skin and a closer look at cold-weather style, including why the right coat can become the entire outfit, from sculptural silhouettes and sharp tailoring to shearling, colour and dramatic dusters.

And, because November deserves proper comfort food, we finish with rich coffee, glorious pies, sticky toffee pudding and a final celebration of autumn ingredients before winter properly takes over.

There should be plenty here to enjoy with a cuppa on a cold afternoon.
